Recorder Orchestras are nearly all quite large, the main orchestra having about thirty five members.<\/p>\n
In 2007 Pam Smith and Steve\u00a0Marshall came up with the idea of a \u2018chamber\u2019 recorder orchestra \u2013\u00a0with the same range of instrument size as the big orchestras, but\u00a0with just eleven players.<\/p>\n
Today our chamber recorder group is drawn entirely from the main Phoenix Recorder Orchestra, and so it seemed natural to take a similar name.<\/p>\n
The chamber group is now rather smaller, but we still encompass the whole range from Sopranino to Contrabass recorders.<\/p>\n
